Pune Centre is adding every year new subjects for lecture and increasing facility for laboratory training.

ii) Video Electronics Laboratory ( Distance Education)
Prof.S.V.Kharkar has taken the responsibility of preparing Virtual Electronics Laboratory for 10 experiments in 1st phase on CD’s. The need for Virtual Lab was felt because when the students come for practical examination, there is a gap of 2/3 months & they need revision when teachers are not available. Virtual Electronics Laboratory solves this problem. The students can come for laboratory practice at their convenient time & revise the experiments without a teacher. CD is a simulator & interactive, so that mistaken can be corrected. This will help remove impression of the industries that IETE students are week in laboratory practice. However one should note that this Virtual Electronics Laboratory is not a substitute for actual practical work under the guidance of a teacher. It is only a REVISION.

13) Library: The centre provides good library facilities for all students and most of the text books / reference books as prescribed for AMIETE/DIPIETE are available in the library. During the year books worth Rs.23917/- were added in the library. 50 Students used the book lending facility

During the discussion on video recording of lectures & virtual laboratory, Shri.S.N.Joshi suggested to go slow for video recording considering the slow response of students. However Chairman stressed the need for distance education because whenever students want to listen the lecture or perform the practicals they can do so by observing lectures on T.V. or observing the complete procedure, connections, observations, calculations, graphs on T.V. This is the concept of virtual laboratory. However, they must perform the practicals in laboratory but for revision they can perform the experiments in virtual laboratory. Shri.M.Y.Thote, the senior member said that even in foreign countries video recording method is adopted. Chairman said that we have to ultimately achieve the goal of education to any registered student, anywhere, anytime has to be achieved & virtual classroom using VCD’ & DTH is required.
